Please join us for the next installation in the ES Career Series, featuring Heidi Weiskel
.

Dr. Heidi Weiskel is a marine ecologist who grew up in western Massachusetts. She currently works as a staff scientist for the international environmental legal organization The Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW). She spent her early summers at the ocean’s edge out on the Isles of Shoals in New Hampshire. She has three degrees in three fields: a BA from Harvard University in Literature; an MS from Tufts University in Animal Policy; and a PhD from the University of California, Davis in Ecology, where she concentrated in marine ecology, studying the effects of nutrient pollution on marine species. In addition to her field research experience, Heidi also worked on the staff of the Pew Oceans Commission to develop recommendations for Congress to improve national marine resource laws and regulations. She also worked as an environmental policy research fellow at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. She has worked with scientists in the US, Cuba, Panama, and Argentina. When she is not traveling to support ELAW’s partners around the world, she can be found teaching Cuban salsa classes and dancing in the Bay Area in California, where she currently lives.
